Abrau-Durso was founded more than 150 years ago in the south of Russia. In the late ХIХ century, an ideal terroir for creating sparkling and still wines was discovered on the white limestone slopes of Lake Abrau, and the first vines of classic European grape varieties appeared.
It is where the Russian champagne school was created, to the development of which both Russian and French specialists made a huge contribution. Abrau-Durso is the most titled winery in modern Russia. Since 2011, the company's wines have won more than 176 awards at international tasting competitions. Among them are the gold medals of the oldest tasting competitions in the world: International Wine & Spirit Competition (IWSC), Decanter World Wine Awards, International Wine Challenge, Mundus Vini and Champagne & Sparkling Wine World Championships (CSWWC).
Abrau-Durso is especially proud of its achievements at the largest international competition - Champagne & Sparkling Wine World Championships. In 2021, Abrau-Durso became the champion in the Rising Star nomination, in which experts annually recognize the world's most promising producer of sparkling and champagne wines.
The Group's modern production sites are located in Krasnodar Krai: Abrau-Durso, Loza, Yubileinaya and Vedernikov Winery in Rostov Oblast.
In 2021, Abrau-Durso sold a record 45.9 million bottles. By the end of 2021, the Abrau-Durso Group became the leader in the sparkling wines export volume. During the year, the company delivered a record volume, 1.8 million bottles, to 28 countries.
The development of Abrau-Durso's business in foreign markets is evidenced not only by record figures for sparkling wines export. In 2020, the trading house Abrau Alcohol Beverages Industry Shanghai was opened in Shanghai to distribute sparkling and still wines in China. To develop business in Southeast Asia, a representative office in Vietnam was opened in 2022.
In 2021, the Abrau-Durso Group, represented by its subsidiary AzAbrau LLC, won the privatization tender for the purchase of the ASK Sheki Sharab winery in the Sheki region of Azerbaijan with a capacity of 2.6 million bottles per year. As per the investment program approved by the tender committee, the Abrau-Durso Group will invest more than EUR 2.6 mln in the development of the enterprise. Today the company is modernizing production and presents wines made from unique autochthonous grape varieties.
Near the world-famous tourist city of Sheki, at its own winery, the company produces wines from the autochthonous Azerbaijani grape varieties Az Abrau; Abrau blended wines, as well as the legendary terroir port wine Agdam. The plans include further development of production and release of new collections.
The best Abrau-Durso sparkling wines are presented in Azerbaijan in Bravo, Araz, Gurmania and other retail chains, as well as in the country's best restaurants. The Group exports wines from Azerbaijan to Russia. Abrau-Durso has great plans for investments in the development of winemaking in the region and ambitions to become one of the largest exporters of Azerbaijani wines to Russia.
