Views on export procedures and export diversification were exchanged with cotton exporters. Current cotton export issues were discussed.
Organized by the Export and Investment Promotion Agency – AZPROMO, a meeting with cotton exporters was held with the participation of representatives of the Ministry of Economy, the Ministry of Agriculture, the State Customs Committee, the State Tax Service, the State Service for Antimonopoly Control and Consumer Market Supervision, the Entrepreneurship Development Fund, the Economic Zones Development Agency, and the Food Security Agency (AQTA). To expand the geography of exports, the event provided exporters with information on certificates and quality standards required to supply cotton to new countries and answered exporters' questions.
During the meeting, it was reported that overall exports declined due to a decline in demand for cotton yarn and a preference for imports of pure seed cotton in certain export markets. Another reason for the decline in exports was the suspension of operations as a result of the severe earthquake in Turkiye. In addition, a lack of transportation delayed the supply process. Concerning these issues, the demands and suggestions of the company representatives were listened to and it was stated that the relevant organizations will work to solve the difficulties expressed by the exporters.
The participants of the meeting were informed about the support measures of AZPROMO, including a mechanism for subsidizing logistics, which is expected to be approved this year.
